"I am so proud to be part of the Glasgow Scotland with style Design Collective again.
“The support has enabled Olanic to show alongside our peers at London Fashion Week and demonstrate the strong creativity and talent emerging from Glasgow to an international audience.”
Glasgow-based
Niki Taylor is a graduate from the Scottish College of Textiles in
Galashiels. On completing the four-year course, where she learned,
among other things, traditional cutting skills, Taylor became a
design consultant for independent skate labels and Nike, Hong Kong.
During this time she travelled worldwide, gaining invaluable
commercial experience.
Having previewed a debut mainline collection at the Rendez-Vous
new-designer salon in Paris in 2004, Olanic was invited to show at
the On/Off autumn/winter 2005 schedule at London Fashion Week. The
Times recently listed Olanic as one of the "Top Ten Fashion Names to
Watch", and also featured in both British and American editions of
Elle. Taylor also won runner up in the Scottish Creative
Entrepreneur awards, and was recently shortlisted for the New Talent title at the 2006 Scottish
Fashion Awards and Scottish Fashion Designer of the year at the 2006 Scottish Style Awards.
Taking influence from the underground, the Olanic label is driven by
the idea of heightening everyday, practical styles with a
directional, tailored edge. Performance – whether related to art and
film or music – is also a pivotal inspiration.
