29th June 2009 - Belfast
The next leg of the Homecoming Scotland Road To The Worlds Tour touched down in Sunny Belfast on the 26th June. The short flight from Glasgow was full of pipers heading to the British Championships taking place in Banbridge two days later. This included our friends from the Williamwood Pipe Band who wore their Road To The Worlds T-Shirts on the journey.
We met The Upper Crossgare Pipe Band and their wonderfully named Pipe Major William Wallace at arrivals where the band performed for 30 minutes to the delight of hundreds of passengers arriving at the airport from Birmingham, London and Liverpool.
The most excited passenger was no doubt the Liverpudlian bride to be, who was arriving in Belfast for her hen night. Despite being disappointed that the band was not arranged just for her she danced beside them for most of the set and bagged herself a free Road To The World’s T-Shirt.
We definitely left Belfast with a few more piping fans who might just follow the Upper Crossgare Pipe Band to Glasgow to see them compete at the worlds this August!
A big thanks must go to the wonderful people at Belfast International Airport for all of their help along the way !
