14th June 2009 - Glasgow, West End Festival
The Homecoming Scotland Road To The World’s tour has been blessed with sunshine so far and it was more of the same as the Grade 3 Williamwood Pipe Band took the tour to the West End Festival on Sunday 14th June!
The day started with me being surrounded by 30 half naked pipers and drummers in the Botanic Gardens as they changed before their first performance at the main lawn. The band’s performance was brilliant and literally stopped people in their tracks until the Gardens were full when their 20 minutes was over.
We then moved to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery via ‘I Love Candy’ on Byres Rd for slush puppies to cool us down. The band performed another two superb sets in front of the Galleries to huge crowds who all wanted photographs taken with them at the end.

The band was fresh from being crowned Grade 3 Champions in both the piping and drumming categories at the Bearsden Highland Games so all in all their road to the worlds is going extremely well so far!
